Alpenfraulein Bulldog Mug Review

I'm a sucker for mugs, I love them. I love the different shapes, the thicknesses, the designs - it might seem like a dull thing to enjoy, but I can't help it. You know me, I like stamps and rocks, too. But I'm also a huge dog person (just as well since everyone else around me these days seem to be cat people), so when I got my hands on a fabulous bulldog mug - with a golden tongue - from Alpenfraulein, I had to share it!

It arrived simply packaged, but certainly safely, and I've bought mugs in the past, even hand made ones, with no effort in the packaging at all.
The mug is a wonderfully delicate fine bone china, light weight but undeniably strong! The mug is made in England as all good china is (I promise I'm not being patriotic, it's the truth!), and it's so smooth, and the lovely little fold at the top of the mug, the lip, is gorgeous and so comfortable, rather than other mugs that tend to sort take up your whole mouth before you get a sip...
But while the mug itself is lovely, the design is what truly caught my eye. Look at this bulldog! It's such a unique illustration! I love the chequered ears and funny eyes, his silly teeth poking out and his tiny little legs. I love it! But while the black illustration pops wonderfully against the pure white china, the splash of gold on the tongue really finishes the mug perfectly. It's not too much, it's not too little, and it's the perfect detail to highlight. There's even a gold bone on the inside of the mug! I love mugs that print on the inside, too, it makes them that little bit more special.

I've got a lot of mugs, but there are only really 2 that I use and both of them are nice and thin, but the trouble is that I'm not too fond of one of them anymore so I really wanted a new one, but without seeing the mug itself, it's difficult to see just how thick and clunky mugs are. So you can imagine how pleased I am with this mug!
Alpenfraulein have an expanding range of dog mugs with similarly unique designs, and I'm sure I'll be back when a spaniel pops up!

What dog breeds would you love to see?
